How do I choose between U, V and W profiles?
Choose the profile by how it is mounted and where the light has to go. A U profile sits flat on a surface or in a routed groove and lights straight out, which suits shelves, cabinet bases and mirror backs. A V profile fits into a corner and throws light at an angle, which suits the inside corners of cabinets and wardrobes. A W profile has a different cross-section, so check its mounting and inner channel on the drawing before choosing it.
Before ordering, compare the strip's PCB width with the inner width of the channel on the profile drawing. A strip that is too wide will lift at the edges, and one that is too narrow can move inside the channel.
How do I fit a strip into a profile?
Cut the profile to length first, clean the inside of the channel, then press the self-adhesive strip down along its full length. Feed the lead wire out through the end cap before fitting the milky lid, so the lid does not have to come off again.
Seal or tidy the cut ends so no sharp aluminium edge touches the lead wire, and leave enough lead to reach the switch or driver without pulling on the strip's solder pads. Bring the lead out on the side where the switch or driver is mounted in the cabinet.
